Why schools, institutions, staff and individuals join AECYC
- The
Association for the Education
and Care
of Young
Children
is an association of
nursery schools,
play groups,
day care,
pre-primary sections
of primary schools
and individuals who have an
interest in early childhood
development. The
management of
the
AECYC is
elected by
registered
members,
and consists of persons who
have
a
real concern
to promote
the values of the AECYC and are
willing to invest their time
and energy to accomplish it.
- As a member of the AECYC you can rely on the furtherance of your
professional development by interacting with other teachers and
educators in joining forces to implement and maintain programmes and
practices of high quality for our young children.
-
Members are part of
the effort to improve
the quality of preschool
programmes and
to encourage the
implementation of
appropriate development
practices.
- Although the preschool profession is a highly specialized
educational field, it still does not get the necessary respect and
recognition in South Africa. The more we work together in the early
childhood development field, the better the chances are that we will
gain respect and support of the authorities and society at large. The
association offers such a platform to its members. The AECYC belongs
to the larger community (The Community of Practice for ECD) where
concrete efforts are made to influence policy-making in the
departments of education and social development in order to benefit
the young.
- You can participate in two seminars per year where 1000 attendants
are rallying together, as well as a number of one- or two-day
workshops throughout the year to keep abreast of changes in
legislation, research and good practices for early childhood
development.
-
Members receive a discount on
registration fees for
AECYC seminars
and training
workshops.
- Members receive copies (in digital format) of the Kleuterklanke / Learning Years magazine, published biannually. Relevant matters/issues are examined in the topical articles, and theme planning are published, based on the CAPS Grade R principles.
